Dr. Alfonso Barbati earned his undergraduate degree from Gannon University in Erie, PA and his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, Kennedy Memorial Hospitals, University Medical Center in Stratford, New Jersey. He completed his fellowship and served as Chief Fellow in Gastroenterology at the same facility. His fellowship and graduate training appointments include The Graduate Hospital, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and the Atlantic City Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Dr. Barbati is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. He is currently a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Dr. Barbati is in practice at South Hills Gastroenterology Associates. Dr. Barbati has been in practice in the Pittsburgh Area since 1989.
Dr. Barbati has written articles on the topics of motor neuron disease, carcinoid tumors, and Crohn’s disease.
Dr. Barbati performs colonoscopies, EGDs, hemorrhoid banding, and Bravo testing at the Waterfront Surgery Center.
Dr. Barbati has an ownership interest in the Waterfront Surgery Center.
