Dr. Joel Brown earned his undergraduate degree from Denison University and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh.  He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky.  Dr. Brown is also directly involved in teaching the residents at UPMC Eye & Ear Hospital where he is a clinical instructor.

Dr. Brown is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, and the Allegheny County Medical Society.  Dr. Brown is in practice at Medical & Surgical Eye Associates.  Dr. Brown has been in practice in the Pittsburgh area since 1996.

Dr. Brown performs cataract and laser surgery at the Waterfront Surgery Center.
